Massachusetts Governor Unveils Global Warming Plan

Green Generators Today, Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) unveiled the first state plan to cut carbon dioxide emissions - the heat trapping gas that causes global warming - from sources throughout Massachusetts. This new plan follows up on commitments made by New England governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers in 2001 to reduce global warming emissions in the Northeast.

If you're planning to build a new home, you can use some of the bigger aspects of building green. used or recycled building materials, you can lessen the impact that you have. You can also choose environmentally friendly insulation like recycled newspaper or cotton. Try using as many materials as you can that are refurbished and not new. Install heating systems that are powered by solar power and electrical circuits that require wind power, for example.

Solar Panel "The Sierra Club applauds Gov. Romney for taking a bold first step towards curbing global warming," said Dave Hamilton, Director of the Sierra Club's Global Warming & Energy Program. "This action stands in stark contrast to the Bush administration's effort to curb global warming - which amounts to nothing."

The other, called the "Renewable Energy Grid Supply Program, " awards large grants for plans to actually implement, on a larger scale, renewable resources within the community. It is this program from which Stellar Energy Systems, or SES, received $2. out of their solar project. In December the BPU submitted a request for proposals for projects and received 14 replies, according to Burnett. Four were approved in July, including two for wind power, one for biomass power (methane gas) and one for solar energy.

Epa Greenpower Romney's plan introduces a number of new policies aimed at curbing global warming emissions. These policies range from proposed laws and administrative actions to regulatory changes and incentive programs. For instance, the proposal would replace state-owned gas guzzling SUVs with clean, hybrid-electric vehicles that emit substantially less global warming pollution.

Wind Energy "The Bush administration has its head in the sand on global warming" said Hamilton. "If a pro-business, Republican governor in Massachusetts can take action to curb global warming, why can't the Bush administration?"

(AXcess News) The California Solar Innitiative was approved by the California Public Utilities Commission Thursday. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger had proposed the Calif. shine state the third largest producer of solar power in the world. The CPUC gave the green light on the $2. 1 vote. One Commissioner bowed out of voting, citing a potential conflict of interest.

Solar The Bush administration's record on global warming demonstrates a string of broken pledges and backwards policies. In its first months in office, the administration broke a campaign commitment to curb global warming from power plants, pulled the United States out of the international global warming treaty, the Kyoto Protocol, and announced a destructive energy policy that would increase U.S. global warming emissions by deepening our reliance on polluting fossil fuels.

Stateline Wind Facility (Walla Walla County, WA; Umatilla County, OR) Summerview Wind Facility (Pincher Creek, Alberta, Canada) Tillamook Animal Waste to Energy (Tillamook, OR) Washington State School for the Blind (Vancouver, WA) Hanford (White Bluffs, WA) The above facilities replace our energy consumption by supplying the power grid with our equivalent energy requirements of 100% green energy from wind and solar energy providers.

Nuclear Power The Bush administration has even questioned the scientific facts on global warming. The Bush administration deleted sections of the EPA's 2003 State of the Environment report that cited a National Research Council report - commissioned by the Bush administration - stating that humans are causing global warming. In the same report, the White House deleted a reference that showed increased global temperatures and replaced it with a divergent study that was partly financed by the American Petroleum Institute. In contrast, the Romney plan cites the United Nations-sponsored Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) - the world's largest gathering of climate scientists - conclusions that global warming is occurring, and is a result of human-made emissions.
