Eating crow? Cheaper Solar Energy

Posted at 20 July 2008 16:12

Today I found a place to share, that place is where I am Green, Solar & Wind Power. During my endless web tour, finally I settle down here. Before I passing the good post about solar power to my friends, I like to hear your voice first.

It is just getting started:

I hate it when I'm wrong, and I think I might have been wrong about the Space Elevator and Solar Power Satellites (SPS).  I've had some 'really smart people' look over the calculations I put on my blog last year, and I think they've found a significant mistake.  I've got some more checking to do, and, if I was wrong, it means that SPS could indeed have a major role to play in solving the earth's energy / pollution issues. It also means I may have to redo my ..keep reading.

While have powerful value proposition is still essential part of building solar power, it certainly is not the only part. But because it is indispensable, the value proposition has better be clear, concise, and compelling. This article applies all these points:

A MOONSHOT TOO FAR. (Part 2) Mr Gore has spectacularly said that we should make it our mission to replace all the coal fired power plants in the US, and to do it within the next ten years. He likened the task to landing a man on the Moon. He said that this just has to be done to lessen our reliance on fossil fuels. It would effectively save the environment, and he dramatically stated that it is something that just has to be done. Can it be done? Click on the Image to open in a larger .. click here.

I force myself to pass some of my favorite posts, oh, for me it is really difficult, they are my treasure. Should I share my "treasure"? Maybe a little bit:

Thin-film dyes boost solar cells Scientists in the US have shown how to multiply the power output of photovoltaic (solar) cells by up to ten times using organic dyes to concentrate sunlight. They say that their work could be scaled up to make solar cells competitive with fossil-fuel power generation.… However, Martin Green, who carries out research on solar cells at the University of New South Wales in Australia, believes that the MIT work is still some way from producing useful devices. .. full article.

Sharing is the stuff of sentiment. Missed communication can always cause my misapprehension.
